Niki Pilkington es un ilustradora que trabaja entre París y el norte de Gales, se especializa en encargos de retratos de todo el mundo. Después de haber sido una estudiante de ilustración de moda en la universidad, es evidente que la moda desempeña un papel importante en lo que hace. Así que para inspirarse, Nikki se dedica a ver a la gente, seguir un montón de blogs de tendencias de moda y tener su estudio lleno de revistas de moda, así como las fotografía, diseño gráfico y arte. Inspirada por la moda contemporánea, ella trabaja principalmente con lápiz, Niki crea retratos detallados y con diferentes texturas. Ha trabajado en diferentes proyectos para Topshop, la revista Elle y Laurence King Publishing.

Niki Pilkington is an illustrator working between Paris and North Wales, specializing in portrait commissions worldwide. After been a fashion illustration student at the university, it is clear that fashion plays a very important role in what she does.  So for inspiration, Nikki is dedicated to seeing people, follow a lot of blogs and fashion trends have his studio full of fashion magazines, as well as photography, graphic design and art. Inspired by contemporary fashion, she works primarily in pencil, Niki creates detailed portraits with different textures. She has worked on various projects for Topshop, Elle magazine and Laurence King Publishing.

DIY Coloring Flowers

Materiales:
-Flores Blancas (Los claveles son los mejores)
-Cutter o exacto
-Colorante Vegetal
-Vasos con agua tibia

Paso 1: Cortar el tallo
Para crear las flores arco-iris, realiza un corte en el tallo de las flores, recuerda no cortarlo por completo del tallo. Entre mas colores quieras agregar, mas cortes tendrás que hacer. Si quieres que la flor sea de un solo color, realiza unos pequeños cortes en la base del tallo, para que así absorba el colorante.

Paso 2: Colorear el Agua
Llena los vasos con una taza de agua tibia, agrega unas 20 gotas de colorante vegetal (Rojo, amarillo, azul o incluso puedes combinarlos) Mezcla bien el agua para que tenga un color homogéneo.

Paso 3: Dejar Absorber
Coloca con cuidado una parte del tallo dentro de cada color, por ejemplo, si decidiste utilizar solo los tres colores básicos (Rojo, Azul y Amarillo), el tallo tendrá tres cortes, coloca uno en el vaso con colorante rojo, otro en el amarillo y otro mas en el azul. Si decidiste colorear una flor de cada color, colócala dentro de cada vaso con el color que seleccionaste.

Materials:
-White Flowers (Carnations are best)
-Cutter
-Food coloring
-Glasses with warm water

Step 1: Cut the stem
To create the rainbow flowers, makes a cut in the stems of the flowers, remember not to cut completely from the stem. The more colors you want to add, more cuts will have to do. If you want to colored the flower with only one color, make small cuts at the base of the stem, for the flower to absorb the dye.

Step 2: Water Coloring
Fill the glasses with a cup of warm water, add about 20 drops of food coloring (red, yellow, blue or you can even combine them) Mix the water to have a uniform color.

Step 3: Let the Flowers
Carefully place a portion of the stem within each color, for example, if you decided to use only the three basic colors (Red, Blue and Yellow), the stem will have three sections, placed one on the glass with red dye, one in the yellow and another one in the blue. If you decide to color a flower of each color, place it within each glass with the color you selected.

Kathy Klein es la artista detrás de estas mandalas elaboradas con diferentes materiales naturales y combinaciones inesperadas de color y textura. Kathy los llama Danmalas, basándose en la palabra  Dan (el dador) y Mala (Guirnalda de flores),  aunque también utiliza otros objetos como las piñas de los pinos e incluso verduras en general su material principal son las flores. La colocación cuidadosa de cada objeto se yuxtapone a la imperfección natural de las hojas y las flores, por lo que no es a la vez un sentido de la precisión y el crecimiento orgánico, e incluso el hecho de que la danmala juega un papel en la adición de textura a cada pieza. Los danmalas nos recuerdan que todos escuchamos la voz desconocida de la naturaleza, la creación y el misterio eterno.

Kathy Klein is the artist behind these different mandalas made ​​from natural materials and unexpected combinations of color and texture. Kathy call them Danmalas based on the word Dan (the giver) and Mala (garland of flowers), she also uses other objects like pine cones and even vegetables, but in general the main material are the flowers. The careful placement of each object is juxtaposed with the natural imperfection of the leaves and flowers, so that there is both a sense of precision and organic growth, and even the fact that the danmala plays a role in adding texture to each piece. The danmalas remind us all to listen to the unheard voice of nature, creation, and the eternal mystery.

Umbrellas in Águeda

En la ciudad de Águeda, Portugal, hicieron una instalación utilizando cientos de sombrillas. Se utilizaron cables para sujetar las sombrillas, lo que hacia parecer que estaban flotando en el aire. El paseo marítimo se lleno de color y de un agradable aire fresco. Las fotos de las sombrillas fueron capturadas por Patricia Almeida y otra serie de fotos por Diana Tavares. Lo único que no sabemos es el nombre del artista que creo esta fabulosa instalación.

In the town of Agueda, Portugal, was made an installation using hundreds of umbrellas. Wires were used to hold the umbrellas, which were to appear to float in the air. The promenade is full of color and a pleasant fresh air. The pictures of the umbrellas were taken by Patricia Almeida and another series of photos by Diana Tavares. The only thing we don't know is the name of the artist who created this fabulous facility.

Cupcake Cherry Blossom

Los Cupcakes han llegado para quedarse, parecen estar siempre en nuestras mentes. Los encontramos como una opción mas a la hora de seleccionar un postre, a veces sustituyendo al tan aclamado pastel. Pero en esta ocasión les traemos una forma distinta para utilizarlos, usando cerca de 10,000 cupcakes se creo este fantástico mosaico que reproduce la figura de un árbol de cerezo. Esta genial obra de arte fue creada por Crumbs and Doilies. La empresa Londinense utilizo miles de cupcakes de diferentes colores para lograr la enorme figura del árbol de cerezo para un programa de televisión Japonesa. La instalación fue exhibida en el Centro Comercial Highcross en Leicester. 

Cupcakes are here to stay, they seem to be always on our minds. We find them as a dessert option and sometimes replacing the acclaimed cake. But this time we bring you a different way to use them, using about 10,000 cupcakes they created this great mosaic which reproduces the shape of a cherry tree. This brilliant work of art was created by Crumbs and Doilies. The London company used thousands of cupcakes of different colors for the huge figure of the cherry tree for a Japanese television program. The installation was exhibited at the Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester.

Mademoiselle Maurice ha creado estas fantásticas instalaciones de papel con cientos de figuras de origami. Esta serie fue inspirada por su ultimo año en Japón y los acontecimientos que indujeron a la explosión de la central nuclear de Fukushima. Después de estos eventos Maurice se propuso participar en el homenaje a Sadako Sasaki, Sadako fue una niña japonesa que vivió el horror de la bomba de Hiroshima y sus trágicas consecuencias. Algunos años después de la explosión ella enfermo a causa de las radiaciones y fue entonces cuando sus amigos le contaron acerca de la leyenda japonesa de las mil grullas: Se dice que para conseguir un deseo imposible, hay que doblar 1000 grullas de papel. Ella comenzó a doblar las grulla pero solo llego a las 644 y falleció con tan solo doce años de edad. Desde entonces, los niños de todo el Japón  envían grullas de papel a Hiroshima, en la memoria de Sadako. Un lugar de memoria se ha creado para ella, con este mensaje: "Este es nuestro grito, ésta es nuestra plegaria, para construir la paz en el mundo" Desde entonces, la grulla de origami se convirtió en un símbolo internacional de paz. 

Mademoiselle Maurice has created these fantastic installations with hundreds of paper origami figures. This series was inspired by her last year in Japan and the events that led to the explosion of the nuclear plant in Fukushima. After these events Maurice was proposed to participate in the tribute to Sadako Sasaki, Sadako was a Japanese girl who lived the horror of the Hiroshima bomb and its tragic consequences.  ome years later, she becames ill because of the atomic event  and that is when her friends told her about the Japanese legend of a Thousand Cranes: It is said that to get a wish exhausted, you have to fold 1000 cranes in paper. She began to fold the crane but only get to 644 and died with only twelve years old. Since then, children from all the Japan send to Hiroshima cranes of paper, in the memory of Sadako. A memorial place has been created for her, with this message:“This is our cry, this is our pry, For build peace in the world”. Since then, the origami crane has become an international symbol of peace.

DIY Color-Block Basket

Necesitas:
-Cordón de algodón
-Pegamento
-Aguja estambrera
-Hilo Nylon de color
-Pistola de silicón

Paso 1: Crear la base
Coloca pegamento en la punta del cordón para que no se deshaga, inmediatamente después comienza a enroscarla. Agrega pegamento en el perímetro y ve pegando la cuerda, para lograr un espiral. Sostén el cordón un poco hasta que se adhiera con el pegamento y continua con otro tramo. Continua hasta que logres el tamaño de la base deseado (4.5 inches en este ejemplo)

Paso 2: Crear las paredes
Para comenzar los lados de la cesta, coloca pegamento sobre la última vuelta del espiral. Coloca sobre este  mas cordón y sujeta unos 30 segundos para que se adhiera. Sigue colocando pegamento sobre el cordón y enroscando.

Paso 3: Colocar el patrón de color
Para comenzar a colocar el patrón de color. Coloca un trozo de hilo nylon en la aguja, pásalo a través de l cordón dejando un trozo de hilo al final. Con un poco de pegamento, pega el final del hilo nylon sobre el cordón de algodón. Comienza a coser sobre el cordón y el trozo de hilo nylon, cose varias vueltas. Cuando tengas el patrón deseado asegura el hilo nylon con la aguja, solo pasa el hilo entre el cordón de manera que este se esconda sobre el patrón. Corta el excedente tratando de que no se distinga. Continua enredando en el cordón de algodón.

Paso 4: Asegurar la cesta
Repite el paso anterior las veces que sean necesarias mientras enrollas el cordón de algodón. Para ayudar a que la cesta sea mas resistente, cose un patrón con el anterior. Esto ayuda a que la cesta no solo este adherida con el pegamento.

Paso 5: Listo!!
Cuando termines de armar la cesta, agrega mas pegamento al final del cordón. Con ayuda de la pistola de silicón pega la punta del cordón en el interior de la cesta para esconder la punta. Listo!! Coloca dentro de tu cesta lo que quieras, puedes utilizarla para guardar objetos o simplemente como decoración.

Materials
-Cotton rope
-Glue
-Wide-eye needle
-Twisted mason line, size #18
-Glue gun


Step 1: Create the base
Start by gluing the tip of the cord so that the ends do not fray, and immediately begin coiling the rope. Add glue to the perimeter and gluing the cord to make a spiral. Pull the cord tight until it sticks with the glue and continues with another installment. Continue until you have the desired base size (4.5 inches in this example)


Step 2: Create the walls
To make the sides of the basket, glue between the top and side of the rope, wrapping the rope tightly to the glue and holding for 30 seconds to adhere. Wrap and glue the cord around until you are ready to start the pattern.

Step 3: Place the pattern
To begin placing the color pattern. Place a piece of nylon thread in the needle, pass through l cord leaving a piece of thread at the end. With a little glue, glue the end of the nylon thread on cotton cord. Start sewing on cord and the piece of nylon thread, sew several times. When you have the desired pattern secure the end of the nylon thread, just  sew the tail of rope into what you’ve just wrapped.  Cut the line as close as possible.

Step 4: Secure Shopping
Repeat the previous step as often as you want to make your own pattern. To help make it more resistant basket, stitched with the previous line of cord.

Step 5: Ready!
When you finish assembling the basket, add more glue to the end of the cord. Using the silicone gun stick the end of the cord inside the basket to hide the tip. Ready! Place in your basket whatever you want, you can use it to store objects or simply as decoration.
