Farhad Moshiri

Farhad Moshiri es un contemporáneo artista Iraní nacido en 1963. Se dio a conocer gracias a que en una subasta en Dubai un trabajo suyo se vendió por 601.000 dólares. A partir de ahí, numerosos críticos y coleccionistas empezaron a valorar sus obras y hablar constantemente de ellas, algo que muy pocos artistas de Oriente Medio consiguen. Farhad Moshiri ha pasado de utilizar típicos jarrones iraníes a crear enormes instalaciones donde las palabras y los objetos más cotidianos (jabones, pasteles, cuchillos) cobran una gran importancia.

Farhad Moshiri is a contemporary Iranian artist born in 1963. He became known thanks to an auction in Dubai where one of his works sold for $ 601,000. From there, many critics and collectors began to appreciate his work and constantly talking about them, something that few artists achieve Middle East. Farhad Moshiri has gone from using typical Iranian vases to create huge installations where words and everyday objects (soaps, cakes, knifes) become very important.

DIY: Colored Flatware

Necesitas:

-Cubiertos

-Pintura en aerosol  para metales blanca 

-Pintura en aerosol de color

-Cinta de pintor

-Bolsa de plástico

Paso 1: Protege el metal

Envuelve el cuello del cubierto con cinta de pintor, teniendo cuidado de hacer una línea recta horizontal, también asegúrese de presionar la cinta en las ranuras para evitar el filtrado o goteo. Envuelve la cabeza del cubierto con la bolsa de plástico y asegurar con un poco de cinta de pintor.

Paso 2: Pintar base

En un área bien ventilada, sostén el cubierto por la cabeza y rocía ligeramente en todos los lados con la pintura en aerosol para metal blanca. Repite. (Por muy tentador que sea, no rocíes una pesada capa de pintura. Se podrían crear gotas y también llenar las delicadas tallas en el metal.)

Paso 3: Pintar color y Listo!!

Repita el paso anterior con el color de la pintura de aerosol de tu elección. Deja secar y retira la cinta y la bolsa. Listo!! Tendrás unos cubiertos con un toque de color que los hará resaltar.

Nota: Si decides variar este diseño, no pintes con el aerosol el lado que tiene contacto con la comida. Ya que dudamos que las pinturas en aerosol sean "seguras para alimentos".

You'll need:

-Flatware of your choice

-Spray paint metal primer

-Spray paint

-Painter's tape

-Plastic bag

Step 1: Protect the metal

Wrap neck of utensil with painter's tape, being careful to make a straight horizontal line; also make sure you press the tape into any grooves to prevent bleeding or dripping. Wrap the head of the utensil with the sandwich bag and secure with more painter's tape.

Step 2: Paint a base

In a well ventilated area, hold utensil by the head and lightly spray the utensil on all sides with the metal primer. Repeat. (As tempting as it is, don't spray one heavy coat of primer. It will create drips and also fill in the delicate carvings in the metal.)

Step 3: Color paint

Repeat step 3 with spray paint color of your choosing. Allow to dry and remove tape and bag. Ready! You will have some flatware with a splash of color that will highlight.

Note: Should you decide to vary from this design, you probably shouldn't ever spray paint the part of the utensil the food sits on. I doubt spray paints are "food safe".
