La historia de estos patios de juego comenzó cuando la artista Toshiko Horiuchi realizo una exposición de arte de crochet a gran escala en una galería, de pronto dos niños le preguntaron si podían subir a escalar la enorme escultura. Con algo de nervios la artista permitió que los niños subieran, de pronto la escultura comenzó a tomar vida. El balanceo y estiramiento que surgía con el peso de los pequeños, formaban bolsas y transformaciones inesperadas que la artista jamás hubiera imaginado, los sonidos de sus risas y la alegría de explorar un espacio nuevo de juego fueron lo que la inspiro para crear estos enormes patios de juego. Fue entonces cuando Toshiko Horiuchi comenzó a trabajar en colaboración con ingenieros y socios para crear estos fantásticos patios de juego. 

The history of these playgrounds began when the artist Toshiko Horiuchi made ​​a large scale crochet art exhibition on a gallery, suddenly two children asked if they could climb up to the enormous sculpture. With some nerves the artist allowed the children to go up, suddenly the sculpture came alive. The swinging and stretching that came with the weight of the small childrens, forming pouches and other unexpected transformation that the artist would never have imagined, sounds of their laughter and joy of exploring a new space game, inspired her to create these huge playgrounds. Thats when Toshiko Horiuchi  began working in collaboration with engineers and partners to create these fantastic playgrounds.
