Yulia Brodskaya
Yulia Brodskaya es un artista e ilustradora conocida por sus elegantes y detalladas
ilustraciones de papel hechas a mano. Yulia nació en Rusia (Moscú), antes de trasladarse
al Reino Unido en 2004. Después de una maestría en Comunicación Gráfica, continuó
para experimentar y explorar formas de reunir todas las cosas que más le gusta: la tipografía,
papel, y muy detallados objetos hechos a mano. Ella utiliza la técnica denominada como
filigrana (que implica el uso de tiras de papel que pueden ser enrolladas, dandoles
forma y pegandose a un fondo) para hacer fantástico trabajo.

Beside Herself
‘Beside Herself’ representa el trabajo en conjunto de las artistas con sede en Toronto,
Carolyn Self y Alda Escareño. "Estamos unidas por una compulsión común para crear objetos
impresos artesanalmente". Su trabajo abarca desde las tradicionales ediciones impresas de
los objetos de arte interactivo y piezas de vestir. Exhortando a la impresión y la elaboración de las tradiciones, cuestionan la forma artesanal de imitar la producción en masa. En su trabajo, los temas conceptuales de la multiplicidad y la repetición inherente en la obra gráfica, se entretejen con colores seductores, las texturas, el humor y las imágenes oníricas.

Susan Kay alias SuziK descubrió el arte de hacer Temari entre la Medicina oriental, el Feng Shui y la
Teoría de los Cinco Elementos. Las esferas temari son tradicionales esferas japonesas que se hacen
a partir de hilos sueltos de kimonos que las mujeres hacen como juguetes para sus hijos. Ella se imagina
como una mujer sentada en un pueblo de Japón, usando sus recursos y herramientas para crear
un regalo especial a su hija menor en un día especial, o para regalar a un amigo para
ayudar o sanar. Se especializa en la coordinación de colores para ayudar con el
Feng Shui en su casa, oficina o incluso en su coche.

Temari are traditional Japanese thread wrapped balls that were made
from
loose threads of kimonos that women made as toys for their children. She imagine her self as
a woman sitting in a village in Japan with her
resources and tools creating a special gift to give to her
youngest
daughter on a special day, or to give to a friend to help or heal. She specialize in
coordinating colors to help you Feng Shui your home, office, or even in
your car.

Laurel Begley
Mientras asistia a la escuela para convertirse en un botánico, Laurel tomó una clase de cerámica ...
de inmediato se enganchó, ella estaba dibujando ideas durante las clases de cálculo ... usando
el laboratorio de química para probar las propiedades del esmalte ... durante la disección, lo único
que podía pensar era: "Vaya, esta herramienta sería exelente para la arcilla". Finalmente renunció
a los estudios de botánica, a su trabajo en la horticultura y ahora pasa todo el tiempo cubierta de barro. "Nunca he sido más feliz".
While she going to school to become a botanist, Laurel took a ceramics class .... immediately
she hooked, she was drawing ideas during calculus lectures ... using the chem lab to test
the properties of glaze ... during dissection, all she could think was, "Wow, this tool would be
excellent for the clay." Finally she gave up the botany studies, quit her job in horticulture and
now she spends all the time covered in mud. "I've never been happier."

Her practice focuses on creating work from paper; by bonding, waxing, trapping
and
stitching she produce unusual paper ‘fabrics’, which are used
to explore the ‘remaking’
of household objects. The papers are treated as if cloth, with the main technique
employed being
stitch; a contemporary twist on traditional textiles.

La misión principal de Scott Urban es ser artesanal. Es un artesano, artista, diseñador y fabricante
todo envuelto en una sola pieza. Al igual que los primeros cuadros que él creó, cada pieza nueva
se transforma de un bloque sólido de madera. La textura y el grano natural de la madera y el uso
de herramientas de mano hace que cada pieza sea única como su dueño. Scott hace cada par de lentes específicamente para la persona que los usa. Su cultura está cambiando de nuevo hacia la especialización, donde la relación entre el artesano y el cliente es valioso.
The primary mission of Scott Urban work is craftsmanship. He's a craftsman, artist, designer, and maker
all wrapped up into one. Just like the first frames he created, each new pair is transformed from a solid block
of wood. The texture and natural grain of the wood and his use of hand tools make each pair as individual
as their owner. Scott makes each pair specifically for the person who will wear them. Their culture is shifting back towards specialization, where the relationship between the craftsman and the client is valuable.
