Urban Outfitters tenía empleados repartidos en varios edificios en el centro de Filadelfia. Esta dispersión
del equipo estaba causando problemas y se tomó la decisión de crear un campus en la abandonada
Navy Yard. Urban Outfitters CEO, Richard Hayne, quería un espacio que reflejan los diseños de
su empresa y productos, así como satisfacer las necesidades de los empleados por el espacio y
la creatividad. El resultado de la nueva sede fue que conserva las cicatrices y refleja la historia
de la Armada y su construcción y reparación de buques de guerra. La pintura se quedó en
las paredes, el metal fue pulido y se dejó oxidado, la madera recuperada se utilizó para hacer
nuevas escaleras y las ventanas fueron retiradas, se pusieron nuevos cristales, y se reinstalaron.

This dispersion of the team was causing problems and the decision was made to consolidate
in a campus at the abandoned Navy Yards. Urban Outfitters CEO, Richard Hayne, wanted a space
that reflected his company’s designs and products as well as fit the needs of the employees for space and creativity. The resulting look of the new campus is one that preserves the scars and reflects the history of the Navy and its construction and repair of naval vessels. Paint was left on walls, metal was sandblasted and left to rust, reclaimed wood was used to make new staircases and windows were removed, re-glazed, and reinstalled.
